North Carolina Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) Practice Test

In Gestalt therapy, the therapist plays the role of a catalyst and guide, fostering an environment that encourages clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences more deeply. This therapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of the present moment and self-awareness. The therapist facilitates the client's discovery process by helping them identify their immediate experiences and how they relate to their environment and relationships.

By acting as a guide, the therapist encourages clients to take responsibility for their feelings and actions while providing a supportive yet challenging atmosphere. This engagement helps clients increase their awareness of their patterns and choices, promoting personal growth and self-discovery. The focus is on the client's subjective experience rather than offering judgments or interpretations. The therapist does not engage in analysis alone without the client's active participation, nor do they provide support that is conditional or evaluative. This unique position allows clients to gain insight and empowerment, enhancing their overall therapeutic experience.
